Burbage Police. Your Message Options, Local Events And February Half Term. |
||||
|
Hello Resident,
Local officers use Neighbourhood Link to keep residents updated on what crime is reported to Police in Burbage, what issues are being raised, what local officers have been up to, and any general information that may be of community concern.
We also hope that by being open and transparent, these weekly updates raise awareness and reduce crime going forward. It is also a way of residents having a direct contact to their local officers. We have also had some success from our appeals, where CCTV has been sent in to us, to support with incidents of crime.
In Burbage, we have around one in three households signed up to Neighbourhood Link, we get some great feedback and really appreciate the community support we get through this platform. (thank you for the ratings and verbal feedback we get).
We always try to make the messages relevant and to the point but appreciate that everyone is different in what content they want and how many emails they prefer to receive. I am very mindful that we do not want to “spam” people with endless messages, so we try to send 1 per week, or perhaps 2 if news needs sending out quickly.
There are several options as to what emails you can receive through Neighbourhood Link. These are, “Get safe online”, “The Police”, “Neighbourhood Watch”, “Office of Police and crime commissioner” and “Report Fraud”.
If you wish to change who sends you messages, you can log in to your account and see the “information providers” section, where you can change this. Please leave “The Police” ticked, to get our local updates. If you have any concerns or need any support on the above, feel free to drop me an email. Reported Crime and Appeals
Report received from Woodbank that on Sunday 8th of February at 12:04, a male in motorcycle clothes and helmet has tried a front door handle and then changed the angle of the CCTV. No report of break but it is obviously something we would like to get more information on. If you saw a motorbike in the area of Woodbank/Woodland Avenue area and have a registration or CCTV of it, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk 26000081422
Since our last update on the 7th of February, we have received 27 calls, 7 were emergency and 4 were priority calls. These calls were largely concerns for safety reports and road traffic reports.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
Beat surgery completed at the Co-op on Boyslade Road. We gave away lots of bicycle lights to children coming out of Hastings High, it was great to see so many of them wearing bicycle helmets. We discussed cycling safely and general road safety issues including ensuring bicycles are locked up outside shops. We also spoke to multiple residents around concerns such as parking and residential burglary.
We attended the Moat House Blue light day, where we spent time with residents to support with their event. A crew from Hinckley Fire and rescue, officers from the Police collision unit and local officers attended. It was an absolute pleasure to spend a bit of time and speak to residents. What an amazing job the staff do to help care for our elderly residents. Some of the residents are over 100 years old, still happy and full of energy.
We have received several reports over recent weeks and months in Burbage, where door to door rogue traders and online scammers have tried to take advantage of elderly or vulnerable people. Please help support our elderly and vulnerable neighbours or relatives as they can often lack that close support network they need and can be targets for criminals. Please take a look at the below links around rogue traders and scams. Report Fraud - UK's Home for Reporting Cyber Crime & Fraud - Report Fraud Age UK - Age UK | Let's change how we age
Whilst we have continued with the school patrols, several challenges have been made by motorists around parking and rules/laws. Please see this link for a comprehensive list of rules around parking The Highway Code - Waiting and parking (238 to 252) - Guidance - GOV.UK
Please be mindful that London and Scotland have some different rules regarding parking which do not apply to Leicestershire. Please also be aware that we have been challenging drivers where there is obviously a safety issue with the location of the vehicle. Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Please ensure you have security measures in place if you plan on going away over half term. Window alarms, CCTV, house alarms, light timers, remove jewellery/valuables and ask a trusted neighbour or family member to regularly check in your property.
Thank you and take care.
